the run wild flower farm
Operated by flower farmer and floral designer Hayley Reid and her husband Dan, the Run Wild Flower Farm is located in Western Australia’s stunning Moore River region on Yued country (just one hour north of Perth).
Hayley decided to start growing her own flowers in 2023 after years of feeling frustrated by the lack of locally grown products available in Perth. Most people are surprised to learn that the majority of flowers in Perth shops are imported from overseas from places such as Kenya, Ecuador and China.
Dan owned a landscaping business in another life so his skills came in handy in helping Hayley bring her vision to life. They took the bare land that they purchased together and transformed it into a thriving flower farm; installing a bore and irrigation, adding nutrients to the soil then planting trees and sowing seeds.
They now practice regenerative agriculture; a holistic farming approach that rehabilitates entire ecosystems by focusing on soil health, biodiversity and water retention through practices such as minimal soil disruption (no-till), cover crops, crop rotation and continually adding organic matter to the soil.
Their flowers are grown organically (spray-free) and their dried flowers are dried naturally without preservatives, dyes or chemicals; just the way that nature intended. They are bunched with natural twine and packaged in paper or recycled jars; free of plastic and elastic bands. Hayley uses their family-grown flowers in her styling and design work and they are also sold to the general public and local Perth florists.
